Its compulsory, otherwise cannot renew road tax, then will get "fined" for driving without road tax. This stupid inspection comes with a cert (if u passed, ie stock sure pass) that only lasts for 3 months, which mean u have to renew the road tax within this period otherwise have to go and inspect again and it costs $62! and if anything fail, eg headlight or exhaust, u have to go for a re-inspection (after fixing the failed items) which costs $30... blah!
Its compulsory, it shd be fucking free, esp since we already pay so much tax, erp and other costs!
For whats its worth, the entire inspection only took like 10mins. And they give u a bottle of mineral water while u wait. The way the system is designed, I guess it was originally meant for the driver to drive the vehicle tru all the stations, but i presumed a lot of people will have problems following instructions so end up those mechanics will just do that job themselves and take over the car.
Also, my Mega White headlight bulb passed the test. LOL, LTA specs allow for up to 4000K bulbs niah, but this series is 4300K. I also used the Osram Nightbreaker series previously, it was brighter than stock, long throw, but unfortunately, short life( 6-10mths niah).
all u pple who want to change stock headlights from yellow to white, pls use this: Osram Cool Blue Mega White 4300K. (wow long and stupid name)
The Hyper white series (5000K and above) sure fail de, although I heard some pple say the Philips DiamondVision (also >4300K) can pass, but i doubt it.
